Cato--A Surprise

When I think of Cato I think of old Grandma shirts and seventy style flow-y arms--a look that I never wanted to wear when I was in High School. So I wrote Cato off as a store that just isn't for me.

Fast forward a few years.

My mom and I were enjoying a casual dinner out and we started talking about another clothing store that sells Plus Sized clothes that went out of business.

"I miss Fashion Bug," my mom sighed. "I just don't understand how come everything either has to be super expensive or straight from my grandmother's closet."

We continued ranting about how hard it is to find clothes that we actually like, and can afford anymore. Which led a trip to the local Cato store. Neither of us had been in it in years, and we were shocked by what we found.

Clothes that we both actually liked!

Here are just some of my favorite items that I saw in the store:

Belted Chevron Aqua Tunic // $21.99

Polka Dot Cardigan // $27.99

Floral Lace Dress // $39.99

Sheer Fan Patterned Dress // $34.99

Belted Floral Embossed Dress // $34.99
Overall the store was definitely a hit or miss. But I'm going to throw it into my stores to check in on. You had to search a bit for items that were not "old-ladyish" but there were some real gems there. And I didn't see any item over $40. The store really reminded me a lot of Fashion Bug.

I did get one shirt there on clearance, but I couldn't find it on the site. But I do plan on wearing it sometime this weekend so keep an eye out for it in an OOTD.

First Posts Are Awkward

"Is that what you are going to wear today?"

"Wow, where did you get that?"

"I might have to make you stay in the car."

"I love your hair."

"What a unique look."

"That's....different."

These are all phrases that I'm used to hearing on any given day when I decide to venture out of my apartment. Some could say that I have a different kind of fashion style then most people in this midwestern town.

But I don't let that get me down--that's why after months of saying it...I'm finally going to do it. I'm going to start a fashion blog. A blog to talk about all my outfits of the day, trends I'm loving, and generally all things fashion related that my friends are tired of hearing my opinion about.

So to start things off... let's go with my OOTD

Right now it's 11:50pm, and I am dressed for comfort. It's my sixth day off of work and I'm currently on Spring Break. I only ventured out of my apartment to put my new license plate on my car and go out to eat my dinner with my mother. And honestly, I should be thinking about going to bed.

I know what you are thinking..."WTF?! Is this some sort of poorly written parody of a fashion blog?"

No.

This is going to be a truthful fashion blog of a common, plus sized, middle class, college student. And it's not going to be all sweatshirts and jeans-- I promise.
